The main beer produced in South Africa is Castle Lager. Castle is a fairly generic lager beer with a light, heady taste.Fresh, light, slightly bitter, very clean, without any aftershock-it just goes down good and easy and fast. There are sippers, drinkers, and gulpers in my beer fridge-this one's a gulper.
Perhaps the most recognisable beer in Africa is Guinness. Black as night, with a rather creamy tan head. Smooth upfront with a nice rich malt flavor. Some rounded malt sweetness pulls through but it gets swept away by a hop flavor that is a bit lemony, puckering.
